What Is Type 1 Diabetes?

Type 1 Diabetes is when the Pancreas completely fails making the body unable to create insulin.

Blood checks every three hours and between 5-10 insulin shots a day, everyday, 24/7.  TO STAY ALIVE   Those insulin shots are life support.  Parents of Type 1 rarely sleep.

Type 1 is not genetic.  There's nothing they did to get this disease and there's nothing to could have done to prevent getting it.  A virus attacks when the immune system is down and then a lifetime of painful injections.  From there it can ultimately lead to blindness, heart disease, stroke, kidney failure and amputations among other life shortening complications.

One out every 3 children born since 2000 will end up with some kind of Diabetes in their life time.
